Police have charged a 16-year-old youth with the murder of a woman at Bundaberg.

Lisa Hund was found by her mother with multiple stab wounds at her home on Kepnock Rd, Kepnock on Friday morning. She was declared dead at the scene at 8.50am.

Police on Saturday night issued a statement saying the male was due to appear in Bundaberg Children’s Court on Monday.

Investigators are still appealing for anyone on Kepnock Road near Kepnock State High School on Friday between 7am and 9am, who may have witnessed something or has dashcam, to contact Policelink.

Earlier Detective Inspector Gary Pettiford said the Bundaberg community had no reason to be concerned after the incident.

“We don’t believe there is any risk to the community, we ask people not to panic, we don’t have someone running around Bundaberg with a knife,” he said.

“I am struggling to think of when the last homicide was up here … we don’t have serial killers or anything like that running around.”

He said: “We believe the weapon used is in the house located near the deceased and we don’t believe any other weapon is involved at this stage.”

Ms Hund’s mother was at the house at 8.30 as part of a prearranged meeting.

“She (the grandma) got there and called triple-0,” Det Insp Pettiford said.

Police say there is no history of violence at the house.
