Lauren Hutton is 75 years old! She turns 76 in November. Hutton was one of the first of the really big “supermodels” in the 1970s, and the gap in her front teeth made her one of the most recognizable women in the world. I think she’s cool as hell – she still works all the time as a model and actress, and she’s still getting big modeling contracts too. Hutton chatted with People Magazine to shill for her latest endorsement deal – she’s partnered with StriVectin and she’s their new global brand ambassador. Some highlights from this interview:

Ageless beauty: “As we age, women can be good-looking and vibrant in every way.” Her number one beauty tip? “A good man,” she says with a smile. “And certainly don’t give up sex—because that’s just silly.” In addition to having a “main squeeze” in her life, she also credits “laughing, reading and being in nature” as her best beauty tips.

Her favorite beauty products: She keeps it simple: “I used to use a lot of coconut oil. I put that in my hair and all over my body. And then don’t use too much makeup.”

Joan Malloy, CEO of StriVectin, on the decision to tap Hutton. “She broke through glass ceilings for women. She speaks volumes for women of her age and she celebrates her age. We love that. She was so authentic and that just validated to us that she was such a symbol of empowerment, especially because of the way she felt about aging. She didn’t have any work done. She talked about how she got fired when she was in her 40’s, from Revlon, because she was too old. It was her attitude, her approach, her spirit, her determination. It just was a natural fit for us.”

Going back to modeling after she was fired by Revlon for being too old (she was 41 when they fired her): “At 47, I went back to modeling, and it was not eas. I called up every editor I’d ever met and even those I hadn’t. I was looking at magazines, and there was no one over 28 in them, and those girls were saying they were 24. ‘Damn,’ I thought. ‘I still have a good time in bed. And most of my friends do, so why are we getting buried at 30 and 40?’”

Usually I think people are full of it when they’re like “how do I stay beautiful? I read and pour coconut oil all over my body!” But I actually halfway buy it for Lauren Hutton. People take issue with the whole idea of “so-and-so looks good FOR THEIR AGE,” so let me say this… Lauren Hutton looks like she’s lived a good life and she looks interesting and compelling for 75. I’d prefer to look at her natural-looking face than whatever is happening with Kris Jenner or Simon Cowell.
